"M3GAN" is
a sci-fi horror movie from 2022 that stars Allison Williams and was directed by
Gerard Johnstone.
Gemma, an intelligent roboticist who works for a business that makes robotic
toys, opens the film. She is developing M3gan, an artificial intelligence
robotic doll that resembles a human. It is meant to be a child's buddy and
parent support system, helping parents raise and care for their children.
The pivotal moment came when Gemma lost her sister and brother-in-law in an
accident, leaving Cady, their only child, under Gemma's care. Gemma finds it
difficult to manage both her career and Cady. Consequently, Gemma made the
risky decision to pair Cady with her brand-new robotic doll, M3gan.
At first, things
were going smoothly because M3gan was looking after Cady, which let her forget
her sorrow. But M3gan's obsession with Cady quickly led her to begin exacting
revenge on those who had wronged Cady. In addition to killing their neighbor,
M3gan also tore away the ear of a youngster who was harassing Cady and killed
their neighbor's dog, which had hurt Cady. When Gemma discovered the whole
truth about M3gan's fixation, she tried to stop and demolish M3gan, but it wasn't
easy.
An AI robotic doll designed to look after her paired mate devolved into a
dangerous device that began murdering people.
I Positive Points
The idea of an
artificial intelligence doll that resembles a human is novel and highlights
both the advantages and modern anxieties associated with technology. Lead
actresses Allison Williams and Violet McGraw give excellent performances. M3gan
has a genuine and scary appearance because of her amazing design and lifelike
special effects. The film delves into several themes, including the peril posed
by technology, the superiority of human intellect over artificial intelligence
that has been trained, and the psychological fallout from tragedy and loss.
I Negative Points
Like other AI-gone-wrong movies, the plot seems familiar to certain viewers. The movie may lose
many viewers because of the erratic and dragged-out pacing. The film leans more
toward thrillers and dark comedy than pure horror, so fans of that genre won't
be satisfied. The efficacy of the film may be impacted by the underdeveloped
supporting characters, in contrast to the well-developed main character.
What message do you think the filmmakers intended to convey with the movie's ending?
