I Main Cast
I Plot Line
A psychological thriller, "The Lie," centers on Kayla, the
single daughter of divorced parents Jay and Rebecca.
The story begins when Brittany, Kayla's friend, is spotted by Jay and Kayla
midway on their way to her belly dancing lesson, and they offer to give her a
ride. The nasty girl, Brittany, made some remarks about Jay that Kayla found
offensive. As soon as Brittany made them stop the car so she could urinate,
Kayla became enraged and shoved Brittany off the bridge. The altercation was
about Jay.
Kayla admits to her parents that she killed Brittany.
Like all parents, Jay and Rebecca took great measures to ensure their daughter
Kayla was safe from harm. Her parents did all in their power to hide the crime.
They began with a single, basic lie of denial, which developed into a web of
lies. But hold on; lies don't finish here. Like with twists and turns, if you
don't follow through to the end, the entire experience will have been a waste
of time.
The movie examines issues of guilt, deceit, and the extent to which parents
will go to keep their kids safe, culminating in a startling and morally dubious
denouement.
I Positive Points
The mystery and
intrigue of the plot keep viewers interested. Every member of the major cast
gave excellent performances. The tension created by the mystery and suspense
surrounding the main untruth is expertly built. Relationship themes are
explored, primarily trust, betrayal, and morality.
I Negative Points
Viewers may face
pacing issues in the middle portion of the movie. Some situations could seem
emotionally detached to you, making it harder for viewers to empathize with the
characters and their hardships. Certain narratives are predictable, which
disappoints many who were hoping for a more surprising tale.
