Plot Line

Featuring Tisca Chopra, Adil Hussain, and Rasika Dugal, Chutney is a captivating short thriller-comedy film directed by Jyoti Kapur Das. At a party, Vanita, a submissive housewife played by "Tisca Chopra," sees her husband, Viri, making connections with Rasika, a younger, more attractive lady. This is how the short film begins. In an attempt to intimidate Rasika and subtly warn her to avoid her spouse, Vanita welcomes her to her house the following day and proceeds to reveal a sinister tale about the males in the family. The story she told Rasika was fascinating because it revealed the foundation of her backyard garden, from which she produced the most delicious chutney that was offered to Rasika with flitters.

In sharp contrast to her outward demeanor, Vanita's narration displays her manipulative and crafty side. She describes her interactions with a former maid who had a strong attachment to her husband. Her frightening tale was replete with warnings to avoid her husband and house; otherwise, she would have found herself in the same predicament as her former maid.
Watch as this simple-looking, innocent housewife with a keen mind warns her husband's girlfriend in a calm, astute manner without turning poisonous.

I Positive Points

Tisca Chopra, who plays the protagonist, gives a fantastic performance. The plot is intriguing, with surprises occurring every minute, and viewers will be shocked to learn that Vanita gave her husband's girlfriend the simultaneous stories of Chutney and death. Even though the main character lacks education and comes from a remote part of Ghaziabad, she handles the difficult circumstances in a way that even an educated person couldn't. The story depicts the dark, secret side of a middle-class family and the woman's day-to-day struggles with it.

I
Negative Points

The primary character is well-developed, but the supporting cast's histories and relationships are poorly explained, and they lack nuance. The movie builds gradually, which may dissatisfy those who were hoping for a story that moves more quickly. It could be annoying for viewers when the movie leaves them hanging in suspense. The film centers on themes of racism, betrayal, adultery, envy, and retaliation, all of which negatively affect viewers.
