I Plot Line

Xavier Gens' thriller-horror film "Under Paris" (2024) is set in the center of Paris. The story of the movie centers on the teams led by marine biologist Sophia rescuing lethal sharks from the ocean, which ultimately led to the rescue of triathlon competitors from the sharks.
Sophia and her husband, Chris's group, are shown in the film's opening scene investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Chris and the gang meet a massive shark named Lilith, who exhibits strange behavior and ultimately results in Chris's untimely demise.

A few years later, Sophia met Mika, a young marine activist, who informed her of Lilith's whereabouts in the Seine River. This was ominous news because Paris was set to hold a large triathlon competition in that river. Authorities were alerted of the threat, yet they did nothing to halt the celebration.
Sophia's only remaining option is to enlist the aid of activist Mika and river police Adil to deal with the menace. While Mika wants to return the shark to the ocean, she is fixated on saving Lilith rather than killing her.

While making several attempts to save people from the shark threat during an event, a slaughter took place, and the bridge fell with significant casualties and massive destruction.
The film featured terrifying shark scenes, environmental irresponsibility, and an ecological message to protect our oceans from pollution before it's too late.

I
Positive Points

Bérénice Bejo's portrayal of Sophia, the main character, is captivating, and the supporting actors also gave excellent performances. The movie is appealing, and the fear and anxiety induced by sharks provide an exhilarating experience that keeps audiences glued to their seats until the very end. Along with showing the disregard for our ecology by higher authorities, the film also conveys an ecological message to protect it.

I Negative Points

The movie lacks a distinctive element, and its formulaic plot is reminiscent of other shark films. Since the movie left them in suspense and curious about the true conclusion, many viewers might not have been pleased with the finish. Certain elements are too weak, such as diving and looking for sharks while aware of the risks, protecting sharks knowing that doing so will result in slaughter and tragedy everywhere, and making bad choices. The bloody content of the film might not be appropriate for those with weak hearts.
